File # 2019-33152
Langley RCMP has closed portions of 232nd Street after a series collisions earlier this afternoon.
At approximately 3:30 this afternoon, police were called to the 4900 block of 232nd Street for a report of a young boy who had been struck by a car. The vehicle, a dark blue Nissan Rogue, left the scene and was located a short time later.
The driver, a 29 year old female from Langley was taken into custody and it is believed she is impaired by alcohol. Her passenger was also arrested after he allegedly attempted to hide the vehicle after the collision.
Investigators believe this collision was the second of the afternoon for this driver. Police believe she also struck an 18 year old leaving school near Langley Senior Secondary School. The 18 year old sustained injuries requiring medical care but not life threatening.
The 12 year old remains in critical condition in hospital after sustaining life threatening injuries.
ICARS (the Integrated Collision Analyst Reconstruction Service) has attended the collision scene on 232nd Street and will offer their support to Langley Criminal Collision Investigators. It is anticipated 232nd Street will remain closed for most of the evening, possibly to reopen around midnight.
Anyone who witnessed either collision and has not spoken to police is asked to call Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200. If you have information about the driving pattern of the Rogue prior to the collisions, it is also requested to contact investigators to provide that information.
