File # 2021-19114

A man is back in jail, following an armed confrontation with police Wednesday.

On June 9, 2021, the Kamloops RCMP Detachment was advised of an unlawfully at large federal warrant issued for a man whose parole had been suspended after he allegedly failed to comply with its conditions.

Police located the man on the 600-block of Brandon Street and informed him he was under arrest. The man was allegedly uncooperative and refused to drop a knife he was holding. When negotiations failed, officers deployed a conductive energy device several times, but its impact was ineffective. A frontline officer was able to knock the knife away from the man, allowing for his safe arrest.

James Bradbury, 40, of Kamloops, was taken to hospital for medical assessment, then transported to the Kamloops Regional Corrections Centre.
