Comox Valley RCMP investigate robbery in Cumberland

The Comox Valley RCMP detachment Major Crime Unit is currently investigating an armed robbery that occurred on June 12, 2021 in Cumberland.

At approximately 10:00 p.m. a male suspect entered the Waverly Hotel Liquor Store with a weapon demanding money. The employee complied and the male fled on foot from the store.

Investigators have identified and arrested a suspect.

Investigators from the Comox Valley Major Crime Unit were in Cumberland all week, canvassing for video evidence and witnesses said Cst. Monika Terragni, Comox Valley RCMP Media Relations Officer. The response from the residents and business owners in Cumberland was overwhelmingly helpful and investigators would like to thank everyone who took the time to go through their surveillance footage to assist with identifying the suspect.

The suspect has been released from custody pending further investigation.
