Langley RCMP is investigating a morning stabbing that occurred at 53rd avenue and 275th street in Langley that left one victim seriously injured.

On Sunday February 18, 2024 at 2:30 in the morning, Langley RCMP received a report of a male who had been stabbed in the area of 275th street and 53rd avenue while attending an unsanctioned car meet and car race. Responding officers arrived and cared for the victim until BC Emergency Health Services arrived and continued caring for the victim, who has since been transported to hospital.

Although the investigation is in its early stages, this appears to be a targeted incident with no other reported injuries. Police believe there is no ongoing risk to the public at this time.

Langley RCMP Serious Crime Section has assumed conduct of the investigation and has arrested the male suspected of committing the stabbing. Through investigation, officers learned that several people had been in the area of 264th street and 56th avenue before travelling towards 275th street and 53rd avenue to race their vehicles. 

Langley RCMP would like to encourage the public to report any unsanctioned car meets or car races and does not encourage the public to attend these car meets or car races.
