On April 27, 2023, the Langley RCMP held their Detachment Awards Ceremony honouring police officers, dispatchers, call-takers and community members. Nominations for awards dating back to the previous awards ceremony in 2019 were received resulting in 31 Officer in Charge Commendations being approved.

Family, friends and colleagues attended the ceremony to witness the recipients, many in full Red Serge, march across the stage and receive their awards from the Officer in Charge. Acts of bravery, professionalism, life-saving actions, perseverance displayed in the investigations and dedication to duty in building community partnerships were among the exceptional acts cited. Superintendent Adrian Marsden, Officer in Charge of Langley Detachments states, "This ceremony provides me a public opportunity to recognize officers, dispatchers, call takers and members of the community, commending them for notable incidents of heroic and highly professional service."

As the ceremony closed, Staff Sergeant Dave Chiasson, Langley Detachment’s Plain Clothes Commander, recognized the successes would not have been possible without the support of the community and the dedication of citizens who have shown remarkable courage and perseverance in the face of adversity. A special thank you was extended to the spouses, partners and families of the recipients for their sacrifices and support.

The 23 individuals in attendance at the ceremony received a crystal plaque, a written commendation and a personally engraved challenge coin. (there are many versions as to the origin of the challenge coin tradition, but the common thread is their use to recognize someone's unique service and contribution.)
