Two people were arrested this weekend after occupying stolen vehicles.

The first male was arrested in the 9800 block of 203A Street shortly after 6:00 a.m. on May 13th. Police received a report of a male slumped over in a Toyota Highlander at the above location. It was later determined the vehicle had been stolen in Maple Ridge on May 11th.

Officers attended and arrested the male in the vehicle for Possession of Stolen Property. He is a 37-year-old of no fixed address. Police indices checks show the male to be bound by two Probation Orders, one Release Order and a Driving Prohibition. He is subject to conditions that he not occupy the driver’s seat of any motor vehicle, not to enter any motor vehicle other than public transportation unless the registered owner is present and that he remain at his residence at all times unless he has written permission to leave from his Bail Supervisor. He was remanded in custody to appear in Surrey Provincial Court today.

Later that same day at approximately 12:15 p.m. a delivery truck was stolen from in front of a business in the 21600 block of Fraser Highway. The driver had left the vehicle to make a delivery while his female passenger waited in the vehicle. Police were told a female suspect had stolen the truck. The female passenger jumped from the moving vehicle as it pulled away.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver fled disobeying traffic control devices and driving on sidewalks. The delivery truck was disabled using a tire deflation device in the 26200 block of Fraser Highway. The female driver fled on foot but was apprehended by pursuing officers. The 38-year-old female of no fixed address was arrested for Theft Over $5000 and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. She was remanded in custody and will appear in Surrey Provincial Court tomorrow.

All the evidence in both events is being compiled for both suspects and forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service for their consideration of Charges.
