File # 2024-7716

The Burnaby RCMP is seeking dashcam footage after a pedestrian was allegedly assaulted by the passenger of a vehicle near Hastings Street and Rosser Avenue in North Burnaby on Wednesday, March 6 at approximately 1:06 p.m.

The pedestrian was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when he was nearly hit by a white SUV, according to witnesses. A male suspect, believed to be 17-20-years-old, then got out of the passenger side of the vehicle and allegedly punched the adult male victim multiple times, leaving him with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect was not known to the victim.

The vehicle, which is described as a white, newer model Honda CRV then reportedly fled the area, heading northbound on Rosser Ave. It’s believed the vehicle was being driven by a woman between 45 and 50-years-old with blonde hair who was wearing a black puffy jacket.

Burnaby RCMP investigators have spoken with witnesses and obtained surveillance footage of the suspect vehicle, however, they are still looking to obtain a license plate. We would like people to look at the image of the vehicle we are sharing and to contact police if they have any information or dashcam video that may assist in this investigation, said Cpl. Mike Kalanj with the Burnaby RCMP.

Anyone who was in the area of Hastings Street and Rosser Avenue on March 6, 2024 who has dashcam footage taken between approximately 12:50 and 1:15 p.m is asked to call Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999. Please quote file number 24-7716.
