Motorcycle collision claims life with several injured

On July 5, 2020 at approximately 11:40 AM, Pemberton RCMP received a report that a motorcyclist was involved in a serious collision approximately 9 km north of Joffre Lake. Police attended and learned that four motorcycles were north bound on Highway 99 approximately 9 km north of Joffre Lake when up to three of the motorcycles collided with a south bound vehicle. Witnesses to the collision, including an off duty doctor and paramedics, immediately provided first aid to the victims. One motorcycle driver from the lower mainland was declared deceased at the scene. Two additional motorcyclists and two persons from the vehicle were taken to area hospitals with what appear to be minor injuries and one additional motorcycle passenger was air lifted to a lower mainland area hospital with serious but not believed to be life threatening injuries. The collision has closed the highway in both directions while investigators are on scene collecting evidence. The road is not expected to be open to travellers until late tonight, possibly 11:00 PM. Motorcycle collision claims life

On July 3, 2020 at approximately 5:00 PM, Pemberton RCMP received a report that a motorcycle had been involved in a serious collision approximately 10 Km north of the In Shuck Ch FSR on Highway 99. Police learned that the motorcycle was travelling northbound on highway 99, lost directional control while negotiating a corner, slid into the oncoming lanes and was struck by a south bound vehicle. The driver of the motorcycle, a 31 year old male from Vancouver, did not survive his injuries and was declared deceased. The highway was closed in both directions while investigators collected evidence and cleared the roadway. The Highway was re-opened for traffic again at approximately 12:30 AM July 4, 2020.
